Organizational Excellence
- Q3 Financial Report Received: The Board received the Q3 2025 Financial Report, noting no concerns from the CEO. An anticipated surplus is projected, resulting from the deferred replacement of the L.E. Shore Memorial Library circulation desk.
- Strategic Planning Steering Committee Update Received: Vice Chair Joanne De Visser, Chair of the Strategic Planning Steering Committee, reported that planning for youth engagement is underway, with a workshop anticipated in February. The Board discussed the potential use of Ontario Library Service consulting supports and noted that the Committee’s next meeting will take place on December 3 at the Craigleith Heritage Depot
- 2026 Budget Approved: The Board reviewed and approved the 2026 draft budget, which includes funding to support the implementation of the first phase of the Space Utilization Study, with no impact on the tax levy.
- Craigleith Working Group Update: Board Member Laurey Gillies provided an update on the Craigleith Working Group’s budget requests and noted the group’s interest in collaborating with the Library.
- CEO Annual Performance Evaluation: The Board completed the CEO's annual performance evaluation and learning plan.
- Library/Town Collaboration: Director Gibbons’ follow-up staff report on the Multi-Use Recreation Feasibility Assessment (MURFA) was presented on Monday, November 17, in collaboration with the Library CEO, outlining both the potential benefits and risks for the BMPL. Council voted to proceed with the project independently and to monitor the results of the BMPL’s Space Utilization Study to help inform future planning.

- L.E. Shore Space Utilization Study Interim Report Received: Consultants from Salter Pilon presented an interim update on the Space Utilization Study and confirmed that a comprehensive report, incorporating the Board’s feedback, will be completed by the end of the month. Initial insights indicate a growing demand for additional programming space and private study areas, as well as the need to expand the staff workspace due to current space constraints, including an inaccessible staff washroom and kitchen.
