Annually in February, the Arts & Culture Council (ACC) host an open invitation, colour-themed exhibition hung in the “salon style”, with work hung edge-to-edge, covering every inch of The Gallery walls at the L.E. Shore Memorial Library. This year, the ACC are thrilled to present Emerald as the colour theme.
Please read through the information below carefully, as conditions have changed since previous years.
What is "Salon Style"?
The term “salon style” originates from the French Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture’s regular exhibitions, which began in Paris in 1667. To showcase the work of so many students, the academy hung paintings as close together as possible, right from the floor to the ceiling.
Important Dates
- Art Intake: Wednesday, February 3, 2027, from 10am-5pm.
- Reception: Saturday, February 6, 2027, from 2-4pm.
- Pick Up: Thursday, March 4, 2027, from 10am-7pm.
Entry Fee
The entry fee for the exhibition is $20.00.
Requirements for Work
This is a non-juried exhibition; however, work must meet the following requirements (please see the Exhibition Contract linked at the top of this page for more information):
- Originality: work must be an original creation of the Artist.
- Colour: work must abide by the colour theme of Emerald. Other colours may be included, but the theme of Emerald should be present.
- Size: two-dimensional work cannot be longer than 40” or taller than 40”.
- Medium: accepted mediums include two-dimensional paintings, photography, mixed media and collage work, drawings, digital art and fabric/textile works. Jewelry is also welcome and can be displayed in a showcase. Due to the multi-use nature of The Gallery space, three-dimensional or tech-based work will not be accepted for this exhibition, unless it can be displayed in a showcase.

How to Enter the Show
- Read and sign your Exhibition Agreement (see top of this page), which contains important details about participating in this exhibition.
- Complete your submission form (see top of this page). Only 1 form will be accepted per artist.
- On Wednesday, February 3, 2027, deliver your artwork, submission form, contract and payment to The Gallery between 10am-5pm. If you cannot deliver on this date, please get in touch and we will determine if special arrangements can be made.
