Carol Sebert
Carol Sebert’s work for this exhibition focuses on both clothing and tools. The clothing paintings, ranging from party dresses to work attire, speaks of the owners. The choices they made and the occasions that they were used for. None of the pieces were cast aside, instead they hold memories. This dovetails with the tools paintings. Paintbrushes, handmade drills, secateurs, all lovingly used over and over again. They hold purpose but they also hold marks from the hands and repeated use.
Carol graduated from her studies in Toronto with a passion for both painting and textile design. She paints in oils and watercolour, plein air in all seasons and still life in her studio, examining the natural world through the joy of colour. Her work captures the energy of the objects or settings she studies. Carol lives in Flesherton, Ontairo, working from a home studio housed in a converted barn.
Carol founded “Creative Matters” in Toronto in 1988. In building this award-winning international carpet design company, she fulfilled her interest in textiles and design. She has retired from this role but continues volunteer work with the International Wool Textile Organization as the chairperson of the interiors working group. She is also on the board of the Canadian Wool Council.

Cindy Norton
Cindy is a Grey County artist living in Kimberley and Flesherton, Ontario. Working primarily in acrylic, often incorporating collage and found imagery, she explores the portrait as a way of examining identity, perception and the gaze. Moving between realism and expressionism, her figures are layered with symbolic elements that can shift the meaning of the familiar. For Cindy, a portrait need not simply capture a likeness; it can suggest something more elusive about the subject and the ways we construct meaning around people, objects and their roles. Her paintings invite viewers to look beyond appearance and consider what might lie beneath.

James Roche
James is a landscape architect, based in Toronto with ongoing projects in the Collingwood area. Working in oil on panel board, he paints the evolving urban condition, focusing on landscapes in transition. His "portraits” capture process, construction and the workers that play a role in actively changing the site. James's paintings emphasize (highlight, spotlight, reveal) relationships and the transformation of space.
