2026 L.E. Shore Artist of the Year

-

Come on out to a live art competition, loosely inspired by the hit TV show Landscape Artist of the Year (UK) and its Canadian iteration!

The Event

Set on the lawns of the L.E. Shore Library, this is a competition with a twist:

5 “Featured Artists” each have four hours to complete a single painting, competing for the L.E. Shore Artist of the Year title. However, a sixth spot in the competition is still open and it will be filled live during the event! That’s where a special line-up of “Wildcard Artists” enter the picture: they’ll compete in their own live paint-off, working within the same four-hour time limit, with one Wildcard Artist selected to advance into the main competition ( filling the sixth spot) and contend for the L.E. Shore Artist of the Year title.

Proudly hosted by the Arts & Culture Council for the L.E. Shore Gallery, the event is free to attend and includes a complimentary wine-and-mingle reception later in the day.

Schedule

Attendees are encouraged to stop by at any time to observe the competition:

9:45am: Opening of Event

10-2:15: 4-hour painting challenge (break 12-12:15)

2:15: Wildcard selection announcement | Judges move into closed session to select competition winner | wine and mingle* begins

2:45: Presentation of final paintings and announcement of competition winner

3-5:00pm: Wine and mingle*

* Free and open to all. Complementary refreshments provided.
