Inspired by nature, three artists offer views of the local landscape through different lenses.
Heather Smiley’s dynamic, colour and light filled oil paintings freeze-frame a moment in nature. They invite the viewer to share in that transient moment and experience an emotional connection to the landscape. Katrina Gataveckas’ painterly organic images capture movement and nature undergoing change. These intimately intricate pieces surprise the viewer when they reveal themselves to be created with yarns laid under glass. Ann-Ida Beck’s small mixed media shadow boxes explore the intersection of nature and humanity, inside and outside. Viewers who move closer to engage with her work discover hidden details suggesting times past and rural lives lived.
