Death Café: Virtual Meet-Up

Death Cafe at L.E. Shore Library
-

Led by Death Doula, Be McCarthy.

Join us for an open, relaxed conversation about death and dying. This ongoing group aims to shift the topic from fear and avoidance toward familiarity, comfort, and consciousness.

Facilitated by death doula Be McCarthy, who walks alongside people in their final months, honouring each person’s beliefs and needs. Be’s support is non-denominational, with the option to integrate elements of Tibetan Buddhism if desired.

This month’s discussion will be virtual and will also include a roundtable on the group’s future direction. This group is community-led so we need your input. Ideas on the table include:

  • Exploring specific topics in depth (e.g., MAID, what comes after death, burial practices)
  • A possible speaker series
  • Sharing stories of loved ones in a Death Café setting
  • A WhatsApp group for community connections
  • Continuing monthly gatherings and what that might look like
  • Creating a shared, crowd-sourced resource list

This is a discussion group, not a grief support group, and is not intended to lead to any conclusion, product, or course of action.

Free. Limited space. Registration required. Participants will be emailed a link to the virtual meeting on the day of the event.
