THE TOWN OF THE BLUE MOUNTAINS, ON – (May 13, 2025): The Craigleith Heritage Depot, Community Museum & Archive, and branch of the Blue Mountains Public Library, is proud to announce the launch of the digitized edition of An Illustrated History of Collingwood Township, making this cherished local book more accessible than ever, while expanding our collection of diverse local historical resources.
Originally published in 1979, An Illustrated History of Collingwood Township provides a comprehensive and visually engaging account of the area’s development, from early settlement to its evolution into the vibrant community we know today.
Thanks to the support of Town Council, the newly digitized edition is fully readable and features high-resolution images, maps, and original text.
The digital edition is available now at www.thebluemountainspubliclibrary.ca, providing an open invitation to discover Collingwood Township’s past in a modern, user-friendly format.
“As a Gallery, Archive, Library, and Museum, one of our core responsibilities is to make information and resources widely accessible,” said Jennifer Murley, CEO of the Blue Mountains Public Library. “Digitizing An Illustrated History of Collingwood Township supports that mission by preserving an important piece of local history and making it easier for people to explore and learn from it, wherever they are.”
Looking ahead, the Blue Mountains Public Library is actively exploring new opportunities to digitize additional local history materials, offering even more ways for the community to connect with and celebrate its unique heritage.
