Organizational Excellence

  • 2024 Risk Assessment Report Received: The Board reviewed the 2024 Risk Assessment Report, which highlighted the implementation of new policies and the installation of surveillance cameras to further enhance safety across both facilities. The report confirmed that the BMPL is fully compliant with all legislative requirements related to health and safety, AODA, and employment standards.
  • 2024 Q4 Financials Received: The CEO presented the unaudited 2024 Q4 financials, highlighting significant grant revenues and a projected surplus.
  • 2025 Draft Action Plan Format Adopted: The Board adopted a new format for the 2025 Action Plan, inspired by the Ontario Library Super Conference.
  • 2025 Budget Approved: The Board approved the 2025 budget, funding all capital expenses from the surplus reserve.
  • Town/Library Collaboration: The CEO updated the Board on the Multi-Use Recreation Feasibility Assessment, with the final report still in progress. She also mentioned a Youth Climate Action Fund workshop on March 19 at Georgian Bay Community School. The Board thanked the Town for featuring BMPL in the February newsletter.
  • Thank You to Ken Haigh & Happy Retirement: The Board acknowledged Ken Haigh’s retirement, thanking him for his years of service and lasting impact on the community.

Community Hubs

  • Craigleith Heritage Depot (CHD) Accessibility Audit Received & Implementation Plan Actioned: The Board reviewed the CHD Accessibility Audit findings and directed the CEO to proceed with implementing improvements at both facilities.

Empowering Services

  • CEO Service Report Highlights: The CEO Service Report highlighted several successful initiatives, including Black History Month, Family Literacy Day, Freedom to Read Week celebrations, and a special visit from Elections Ontario.
