All are welcome to an author talk with Sheila Balls.
Relax and enjoy quiet piano playing (did you know Sheila used to be a lounge pianist?) as well as violin music from Melinda Camplin while visiting with one another.
Sheila will talk about her published books and offer brief readings and the stories behind each one.
Audience members are welcome to ask questions after each reading.
Author Bio:
Sheila Balls is a musician, and teacher, author of Somebody Move the Cat! Our Side of the Fence and All Right So Far. Much of her writing (humour, philosophizing, etc.) came from experiences in the woods above beautiful Bass Lake near Georgian Bay and then from their setting on Flesherton Pond.
Sheila Balls' New Book: Walk This Way
In All Right So Far, Sheila described “twin trains” hurtling downhill with “nobody at the controls of the first and two of us frantically studying the guidebook for the second”.
If that book did not feel finished, it’s because the story was still happening. Walk This Way is the conclusion of that story of an ordinary couple in extraordinary circumstances, facing a health crisis and trying to rescue a faltering marriage.
These are the years at the pond, their marriage rebuilt, but Carl’s health not so easy to reassemble.
