Organizational Excellence

  • 2025 Budget Timeline Established: A timeline for the 2025 budget was established. The CEO will bring the first draft of the budget to the September Board meeting. 
  • Town/Library Collaboration Highlights: Several updates on Town/Library collaboration were presented. The Cultural Map launched on July 2, boasting over 75 sites. The CEO also updated the Board on the status of the Youth Climate Action Fund, the successful installation of new public access computers, and the Accessibility Feasibility Study. 

Community Hubs

  • Valuing the Blue Mountains Public Library: The Board further discussed the Library’s Social Return on Investment results using the Ontario Library Service’s Valuing Ontario Libraries Toolkit. 
  • MURFA Focus Group Date Selected: The CEO provided a verbal update on the Multi-Use Recreation Feasibility Assessment (MURFA), highlighting that the project team is meeting bi-weekly, and a community survey is scheduled to launch in mid-August. Focus group questions were reviewed and a date was selected for the Board to meet with Colliers.
  • Arts & Crafts Walk: Thank You to Staff and Volunteers: The Board celebrated the success of the second Arts & Crafts Walk and passed a resolution to formally thank the staff, Arts & Culture Council, volunteers, and supporters who contributed. 

Empowering Services

  • Launch of Community Builders Directory Announced: It was announced that on Monday, July 29, the BMPL will pilot a new online directory, Community Builders, connecting people who are eager to learn new skills with volunteers passionate about sharing and mentoring.
