On January 23 at 7pm, join Ken Haigh for a Scottish adventure on the island of Iona! Ken volunteered for three months at the restored medieval abbey on Iona, which is now an ecumenical Christian retreat centre. The Iona Community hosts visitors from around the world who wish to experience life in community and to work together for social and environmental justice and world peace. This is a free event - registration is required.
Ken worked as a librarian at both the Blue Mountains and Collingwood Public Libraries before retiring in 2021. He has also worked as a teacher in Bhutan, China, Sikkim and the Canadian Arctic. Ken is the author of two books: Under the Holy Lake, which documents his two years in Bhutan, and On Foot to Canterbury, which was a finalist for the Hilary Weston Writers’ Trust Prize for Non-Fiction and the Alberta Book Publishing Award for Non-Fiction.
