Kids Podcasting Club

Love stories, media, or trying something new? The TBM Kids Podcasting Club is a biweekly, hands-on program for youth (grades 5 to 8) who want to learn how podcasts are made and create one together.

Participants will meet in a small group at the L.E. Shore Library Board Room to learn podcast basics, work as a team, and share their ideas in a supportive space. Over the session, students will build skills in storytelling, communication, and collaboration while having fun.

Led by Lalincson Media with assistance from Mr. Grant Kearns.

When: Fridays, 3:30–4:30pm Dates: Friday April 10  & Friday May 1. Rest of the dates will be scheduled as a group but plan is for every other Friday in May and June.

Join retired colour analysis professional Mary Lye for a fun, hands-on workshop exploring how colour interacts with your skin tone, hair, and eyes. Enjoy a live demonstration with volunteers, try colour swatches for yourself, and leave with practical tips you can use every day.

Mindfulness Tools for Better Living with No Magic Bullet

Join Robert Koven, Executive Director of No Magic Bullet, for a live and engaging conversation about practical mindfulness tools for everyday life. This interactive interview-style event will feature a guest speaker, Dr. Alison McLay, a psychotherapist from the Centre for Mindfulness Studies, exploring how mindfulness practices can support mental health, resilience, and well-being.

The discussion will include opportunities for audience questions and conversation.

All are welcome to attend this thoughtful and approachable event during Mental Health Week.

Learn to Crochet: Youth Series

Join us for a cozy, beginner-friendly crochet series just for youth! Over four weeks, participants will learn the basics of crochet and build skills step by step, finishing with a completed Cozy Square to take home. No experience needed. All supplies provided.

Week 1: Learn how to hold a hook and yarn, make a slip knot, and practice chaining Week 2: Continue chaining and learn basic single crochet Week 3: Learn double crochet and practice combining stitches Week 4: Crochet a Cozy Square, learn how to fasten off, and weave in ends

Registration is for the full 4-week series. Please register only if you can attend all sessions. 

Cost: $5 per person. Crochet hook and yarn provided. Ages 10+. Registration required. Spaces are limited.

Creative Workshop with Tara Parkal

Celebrate Mother’s Day with a fun, hands-on art workshop led by local maker Tara Parkal of Back to the Yarn. Using a collection of beautiful odds and ends—like glass, rocks, and shells—participants will create a one-of-a-kind piece to give as a gift or keep as a special keepsake.

This intergenerational workshop is perfect to attend with your mom, grandma, or a favourite person. Ages 12+ (hot glue guns will be used). No experience needed—just bring your imagination and enjoy creating together.

Chalk the Lot

Get in touch with your artistic side and make some sidewalk chalk art at the L.E. Shore Library! We’ll supply the chalk (and cold lemonade!), just bring yourself and your imagination. 

We’re also excited to host artist Nicole Foster, who will be crafting a chalk piece to show what can be accomplished with just art supplies and a stretch of asphalt.

All ages welcome. Chalk supplied at no cost. Chalk supplies and sidewalk spots limited – first come, first served. In the event of inclement weather, this event will be canceled.

Nicole Foster is a local artist whose work is rooted in bold colour, strong graphic shapes, and simplified, expressive design. She creates vibrant artwork across wood, canvas, and sidewalks, and also collaborates with local businesses on custom chalkboard signage and digital illustration. She loves using art to bring creativity into public spaces in a way that feels playful, immediate, and full of personality.

Art Supplies Sale

Attention all garage sale lovers: come find a bargain at The Gallery at L.E. Shore’s first ever Art Supplies Sale! 

This is a garage-sale-style market held on the front lawns of the L.E. Shore Library, featuring gently used arts and crafts supplies from the personal collections of your friends and neighbours. There will be a range of items for sale, including paint, paintbrushes, easels, art books, stamps, sketch pads, jewelry-making supplies, paper crafting supplies and more! Bringing cash is recommended.

In the event of inclement weather, the Art Supplies Sale will move inside to the L.E. Shore Library’s Gallery space.

Mosaic Plant Stake Workshop

No experience necessary—just bring your creativity! Join us for a fun evening of creating as Patti guides you through making your own beautiful mosaic plant stakes. Choose from colourful pre-cut glass pieces to design and assemble two unique plant stakes to take home. All supplies are provided.

Kids Drawing Class

Kids Ink Drawing with Imagination Studio

The Blue Mountains Public Library is partnering with Imagination Studio to bring art classes to L.E. Shore Library! Kids will choose a favourite spot in the library to sketch from observation, then bring their drawings to life with bold, expressive ink. No erasers, just creativity, happy accidents, and artwork that's uniquely theirs! All materials provided. Wear art-friendly clothes.
