Exhibit Opening: That Which Inspires Us

Image

May 4 | 2-4pm | Drop-in

Looking for something fun to do this weekend? Join us for our May art exhibit opening!

For this show, four artists (P. Annie Churchill, George Rutherford, Heather Bennett and Maureen White) have joined together to explore the elements, subjects and scenes that inspire them. The exhibit beautifully demonstrates how inspiration can emerge from anywhere – a body of water, a piece of cloth or a shade of color.

The artists will be in attendance at the opening, and this will be a chance to chat with the creator behind the work – all while enjoying complementary refreshments and wine. Following the opening, the show will be in The Gallery until May 29.

Author Talk: You are You First, a Cancer Patient Second

Image

May 21 | 7pm | Registration Required

Local author Brenda Joy Roden will be joining us for an evening author talk about her latest book – “Belly Books and Belly Laughs: Yes, You Can Have Cancer and STILL Find Things to Chuckle About”.

Brenda wrote this book for cancer patients and their families and friends to help them navigate their way through the cancer journey, while also reminding them that “You are still you - and you are most definitely allowed to still laugh.” This will be an open, honest and, yes, even humorous at times, evening where Brenda will explore her book and breast cancer experience and why she is a strong advocate for all forms of cancer screening.

Mark your calendars for an event where art meets the great outdoors! On July 6, the neighboring downtowns of Thornbury and Clarksburg will be the site of the second Blue Mountains Arts & Crafts Walk - a 2.2km, outdoor experience celebrating the arts and culture scene of the Blue Mountains and surrounding areas. For one day all along Bruce and Marsh Streets, there will be musicians performing in the downtown cores; artists and artisans displaying and creating on the lawns of homes and churches; discounts and specials at stores and restaurants; open house galleries with stunning displays of artwork; and more!
