Lights, Camera, History: 'Craigleith Station’ To Premiere at the Blue Mountains Public Library

Thornbury, ON (December 05, 2024) – The Craigleith Heritage Depot, the Blue Mountains Public Library (BMPL), and Mountain Goat Films are excited to announce the premiere of “Craigleith Station,” a captivating documentary directed and produced by Tracey Strnad and Tom Strnad. The premiere will take place at the L.E. Shore Memorial Library on Wednesday, December 18 at 7:00 p.m. with admission by donation.

“This film is the ninth installation of the BMPL’s REEL History Film Series,” says Museum Curator, Alessia Farris. "It explores the rich history of the Craigleith Station and its transformation from a railway station to a restaurant, and eventually into a branch of the Town of The Blue Mountains’ library system, serving as a library, archive, and museum”.

Producer, Tracey Strnad emphasizes that, “Perhaps the most important part of the film is that it captures how 'The Depot,' as it’s affectionately known, has profoundly impacted the lives of those who have come to know and love this vibrant community hub."

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., allowing attendees the chance to travel back in time and explore mini-exhibits featuring artifacts and photographs related to the Station. The film screening will begin at 7:00 p.m. Following the screening, there will be an exclusive Q&A session with the filmmakers and museum staff. Participants are encouraged to reserve their spot in advance by calling 519-599-3681 or registering online.
