Organizational Excellence

  • Annual Report: Three documents were approved in the June Board meeting, which together, form the Annual Report. The Year in Review is a video synopsis of activities throughout 2022. This is supported by a Highlights of statistics document and the 2022 Audited Statements. Each can be found on the BMPL website. [OE2.9]

Community Hubs

  • Special Joint Meeting with Council on Craigleith Library Project: The Board met in a special session of Council to discuss a proposed Craigleith library to be built on the former School Board property, adjacent to the Home Farm development. Council requested the Board bring back a business case, needs assessment, and other information to the fall 2023 meetings. Building on the 2018 consultation and Feasibility Study and the 2022 Consultation, a further consultation is being planned in summer 2023 to inform this project. This plan will achieve much of the Council resolution to the Board for additional information. [CH2.1]
  • Grand Re-Opening of the Museum: We are happy to announce that the Craigleith Heritage Depot has now re-opened. The 6 month closure was needed in order for the renovations of the building to occur. The exterior has had a complete overhaul as we returned the exterior to the look of the 1886 building when it was a part of the Grand Trunk rail line, including colour scheme and roofing. Guests at the opening ceremony had tours of the newly established exhibits as well. These exhibits will be changing seasonally, so stop in and see our summer exhibits. [CH2]
  • The Craigleith Station: A name change request was submitted in April 2023 and will be in front of Council as a correspondence on July 10th and addressed fully on the August 14th Council meeting. This again is bringing our community museum back to the 50+ year rail line period where the building was called The Craigleith Station. [CH2]

Empowering Services

  • Board Implements new Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access (IDEA) policy! In support of the themes of our Strategic Plan and in cooperation with the TBM Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committee, the CEO has been working to enhance services of BMPL. The new IDEA will be a foundational lens for BMPL programs and services as we move forward. [CH1.4]
