Action Planning

  • The Board continued to work on the 2024 Action Plan, outlining how strategic goals will be met.

Organizational Excellence

  • 2023 Year in Review: The Board approved the 2023 Year in Review, highlighting the Library’s continued impact on the community. This year’s story is told through the Strategic Plan’s pillars and will be presented to Council.

Community Hubs

  • Accessibility Feasibility Report: The Board approved a $4900 transfer from its reserve to partially fund an Accessibility Feasibility Report that will assist the Municipality in identifying accessibility-related gaps and securing future funding for renovating the L.E. Shore Memorial Library public washrooms. The Report may be used for future expansion needs and will help the Board ensure that L.E. Shore is safe and accessible for all to enjoy.
  • 2024 Outreach Strategy: The Board received a presentation on the status of outreach services from the Manager of Community Engagement, Mary Dodge.

Empowering Services

  • March was another successful month, with over 45 programs and events hosted. Highlights included the opening reception for ‘Ephemeral Structures’ in The Gallery, Collaborative Climate Action with Mayor Matrosovs, March Break activities, and an ACC-led event on the history of the Kolapore wilderness trails, with special guests Stephen Couchman and Bruce King. Additionally, BMPL announced a new Garder-In Residence Program with the Grey County Master Gardeners,  a drop-in program, occurring every fourth Tuesday of each month from 12:30-2:30 pm at L.E. Shore.
