Organizational Excellence
- Congrats to the Arts & Culture Council! The ACC was honoured at the TBM Volunteer Appreciation Reception for the service in the area of arts and culture to the community. Congrats to our members. You put the “G” in our GLAM! [OE1]
- Board Training & Planning Session: The Board met for a full day training and planning meeting on April 20th at the Craigleith Community Centre. Topics included orientation to 21st century service needs of GLAM, expanding upon the 2022 Key Supporter Initiative, Lightning Talks on local, regional, and national trends. A guided tour of the recently renovated museum occurred and a focused discussion occurred about the museum needs of still present within the facility and across BMPL. [OE1.4]
Community Hubs
- Craigleith Heritage Depot Renovation Update: The museum is preparing to open for holds pickup. Throughout the month the staff will be designing new exhibits and a Grand Re-opening ceremony is planned for June 23rd where much thanks and recognition will be provided to the primary funder of the project, the Ontario Trillium Foundation. The parking lot, holds pickup and washrooms will be open beginning Wednesday, April 26th. Look for our detailed information on the renovations which have occurred to the Craigleith Railway Station in the E-Newsletter later this week. [CH2]
Empowering Services
- Remembering Willi Wildman: The opening reception of She Loved the Bay: The Life & Art of Willi Wildman opens on Saturday. This retrospective exhibition of the late local artist, Willi Wildman, will run from April 29 – May 31, featuring her work from private collections. Willi was a longtime supporter of The Gallery at L.E. Shore showing several times, sitting on the ACC and siting on the BMPL Board. Please join us at the opening reception April 29 from 2-4pm. [ES1]
- Supporting Others to Become GLAMs: Over the past months, BMPL’s CEO has provided expertise in enhancing library services by incorporating museum and archives into the Library Board. Across the province BMPL continues to be a leader in this area and these requests for advice and support are seen as a testament to the success of our GLAM services, leadership and governance. [ES1]
