Get ready to journey into reading and travel around the world!
Join us for another exciting summer with the Summer Reading Club! This year, we're going Around the World with weekly meet-ups at Hester Parkette (Downtown Thornbury). Each week, we'll explore a new country through crafts, stories, and fun activities — plus plenty of sunshine, good books, and snacks generously provided by Beaver Valley Outreach.

Join us for Sidewalk Astronomy with Chris Vaughan, also known as AstroGeoGuy!
Chris will guide you through a fascinating look at what you can see in the sky during the day. Using a special solar filter, you'll have the rare chance to safely observe the Sun's surface—spotting sunspots and other incredible solar activity up close. This is a drop-in event for all ages, so bring your curiosity and come explore the daytime sky! This event will take place at the L.E. Shore parking lot, weather permitting.

A field trip to the Carr Observatory
Ever wonder what it would be like to travel to the stars? Join us for a cosmic journey on Thursday, August 14th at 7:30 PM at the Carr Observatory! We’ll explore the wonders of the universe and imagine what it might feel like to soar through space. It’s going to be a stellar summer night—full of awe, adventure, and starry skies. See you among the stars, space explorers!
