Join author Paula Hope for an engaging talk on her upcoming book Paradise Lost: The Untold Story About WWII. Presented by The Blue Mountains Historical Society as part of their Small Town Stories Series.

This powerful work uncovers one of Canada’s forgotten wartime events, the 1942 expropriation of 18,700 acres of farmland, waterfront, and homes from 154 families in the Cape Rich area. Drawing on military records, personal accounts, and community memories, Paula sheds light on the impact of this loss and the role the land played in supporting Canada’s war efforts.

During the event, visitors can explore a large 1942 map of the expropriated properties and mark any location of personal or family significance.

All are welcome to attend this moving look at a little-known chapter of local and national history.
