As part of our Gardeners-in-Residence program, Grey County Master Gardeners will be providing an interactive workshop about winter seed sowing. This workshop is great for novices to experienced gardeners looking to grow plants, like native plants, from seeds that require cold stratification. Join the Gardeners in Residence to learn about winter seed starting, cold stratification, and how to get your seeds off to the right start this winter.

It's recommended that you bring your own seeds with you that require cold stratification. If you are collecting native seeds, you can bring the whole dried flowerhead with you. Any spare seeds can be donated to BMPL’s Seed Library.

For this workshop, you will need:

  • a container to plant your seeds, like a plastic clam shell container, large clear plastic bottle, or other
  • Native seeds or seeds requiring cold stratification

Soil will be provided, and there will be a small selection of native seeds, but please bring your seeds with you.
