
Learn to Crochet: Youth Series
Join us for a cozy, beginner-friendly crochet series just for youth! Over four weeks, participants will learn the basics of crochet and build skills step by step, finishing with a completed Cozy Square to take home. No experience needed. All supplies provided.
Week 1: Learn how to hold a hook and yarn, make a slip knot, and practice chaining Week 2: Continue chaining and learn basic single crochet Week 3: Learn double crochet and practice combining stitches Week 4: Crochet a Cozy Square, learn how to fasten off, and weave in endsRegistration is for the full 4-week series. Please register only if you can attend all sessions.

Love stories, media, or trying something new? The TBM Kids Podcasting Club is a biweekly, hands-on program for youth (grades 5 to 8) who want to learn how podcasts are made and create one together.
Participants will meet in a small group at the L.E. Shore Library Board Room to learn podcast basics, work as a team, and share their ideas in a supportive space. Over the session, students will build skills in storytelling, communication, and collaboration while having fun.

Junk Journal Art Workshop
Looking for a creative and mindful way to use up those leftover scraps of paper? Discover the art of junk journaling! Join facilitator Nikki Luscombe for this hands-on workshop where you’ll design and hand‑stitch your own journal. Nikki will also share creative prompts and ideas to help spark your journaling practice.
Come curious, leave inspired with a one‑of‑a‑kind journal that’s uniquely yours.
More than just a scrapbook, junk journals are hand‑made books crafted from recycled papers, found materials, and ephemera, perfect for art journaling, diary entries, travel memories, concert keepsakes, or simply playful self‑expression.

Pollinate Event: Adopt a Pollinator Patch
Join Pollinate TBM at the L.E. Shore Library for a hands-on morning dedicated to our local pollinators! This interactive event offers something for all ages, from practical gardening demonstrations to creative crafts.
Event Highlights:
Expert Guidance: Enjoy a 20-minute slideshow for adults in the Gallery focused on pollinator health and native plants. Kids’ Corner: Ongoing crafts and face painting will be available in the Gallery throughout the event. Garden Demo: Head to the Courtyard for a live 20-minute demonstration on how to plant your own pollinator patch. Interactive Fun: Help us decorate our community canoe in the Courtyard or snap a photo in our giant butterfly chair. Enjoy light refreshments.Plants: Households can pick up plants to start their own gardens at home.
Open to all ages; activities are designed to be family-friendly.

Home Alone Safety Course
The Blue Mountains Public Library is partnering with Blooming Youth to offer a one-time Home Alone Safety Course for youth ages 9–14. This interactive, practice-based program covers the skills kids need to feel confident and safe at home on their own, including basic first aid, fire safety, recognizing hazards, and handling emergencies.
10 spaces available at a reduced rate of $10 per participant (regularly $70–$90)
This program is meant for families who would benefit from the financial support. Spaces are limited. Register below.

A Poetry Reading & Performance with Susan Wismer and Hania
Susan Wismer, poet and Hania Krajewski, musician and storyteller invite you to come join us for a fun evening of sonnets and folktales. We will have shakers and wooden blocks and a tambourine or two for anyone who wants to help us out. This is a family-friendly event, feel free to bring kids old enough to enjoy listening to stories and songs. A Q&A and opportunity for conversation will follow.
Susan BioSusan lives gratefully on Treaty 18 territory at the southern shore of Manidoo-gitchigami (Georgian Bay) in Collingwood, Ontario. Community Conversation: On Race and Belonging
This community conversation invites participants to explore what it means to be a better neighbour in everyday life. Together, we'll reflect on what makes people feel welcome, build awareness of different experiences in our community, and identify simple, practical ways to create more inclusive spaces for others.
Facilitated by local resident and experienced conversation guide Nova Nicole, this session is open, welcoming, and grounded in real-life connection. All ages are invited to drop in anytime between 3:30 and 5:00pm, no registration required.

L.E. Shore Gallery Artist of the Year
Come on out to a live art competition, loosely inspired by the hit TV show Landscape Artist of the Year (UK) and its Canadian iteration!
The EventSet on the lawns of the L.E. Shore Library, this is a competition with a twist:
Five featured artists each have four hours to complete a single painting, competing for the L.E. Shore Gallery Artist of the Year title. However, a sixth spot in the competition is still open and it will be filled live during the event!
That’s where our “wildcard” artists come in: they’ll compete in their own live paint-off, working within the same four-hour time limit, with one wildcard earning this final spot in the main competition and the chance to contend for the L.E. Shore Gallery Artist of the Year title.
This event is proudly hosted by the Arts & Culture Council for the L.E. Shore Gallery and is free to attend.
ScheduleAttendees are welcome to drop in at any point during the day to observe the competition:

10-2:15: 4-hour painting challenge (break 12-12:15)
2:15: Closed jurying session | wine and mingle*

Get ready to dance, create, and celebrate at our Rainbow Dance Party, a joyful, all-ages PRIDE event for the whole family!
Join DJ and dance leader Tyler Boyle on the Front Lawn at L.E. Shore Library for a morning packed with energy and colour. Whether you're busting moves on the dance floor or getting crafty at one of our activity stations, there's something for everyone. Expect a flash mob-style dance with easy-to-follow steps that leave plenty of room for your own flair, plus LGBT+ resources, games, and arts & crafts.
No dance experience necessary, this event is open to all ages and abilities. Come as you are, bring your rainbow spirit, and help us celebrate pride together!
