Made By Hand: Heritage Crafts for Kids

-

Step back in time this fall at the Craigleith Heritage Depot as we explore traditional crafts and create toys and treasures inspired by generations past. Participants will discover how everyday objects were made before modern technology, while learning simple sewing, weaving, and crafting skills.

We'll kick off the series with an Easy-Sew Rag Doll Workshop. Rag dolls are among the oldest handmade toys, traditionally crafted from fabric scraps, worn clothing, or felt and stuffed with soft materials. For centuries, these simple dolls provided comfort, creativity, and imaginative play for children around the world.

Throughout the season, participants will also create felt-sewn bookmarks, try their hand at basic weaving, and enjoy a variety of heritage-inspired projects that celebrate the art of making by hand.

Registration required. Ages 8+
