Organizational Excellence

  • Staff Recognized for Provincial/Regional Leadership: The Board received a report highlighting the BMPL’s representation and leadership on several provincial and regional committees.
  • 2025 Budget Approved:  The Library Board approved the 2025 budget, with discussions pending a few items. The budget will be made available to the public soon.
  • Town/Library Collaboration Highlights: A joint Council meeting is scheduled on October 30 at 5 p.m. with Colliers, the consultants hired to work with the Town of the Blue Mountains, Town of Collingwood, Blue Mountains and Collingwood Public Libraries on a Multi-Use Feasibility Assessment (MURFA). This meeting will serve as a mid-point check-in and high-level overview of the results of community consultation. The final report is scheduled to go to Council in December. The CEO also presented a report detailing Library/Town collaboration on an internal committee that focuses on corporate-wide inclusivity, diversity, equity, and inclusion (IDEA). The Board passed a motion to commend the CEO on her leadership on this committee.

Community Hubs

  • Valuing the Blue Mountains Public Library Social Return on Investment Presentation Confirmed: The Library CEO will present the Library’s social return on investment results to Council on Monday, October 21 in celebration of Ontario Public Library Week.
  • Accessibility Report Received: The Board received the Accessibility Report, a physical audit of the L.E. Shore Memorial Library conducted by Unity Design Studio. The comprehensive results will be used for future planning and evaluation of accessible and equitable GLAM services.

Empowering Services

  • Mother Goose Project Commended: The Board celebrated the impact and importance of the Library’s Mother Goose Project, led by the Manager of Community Engagement. This project was launched in July and has seen significant impacts on building relationships, community, and literacy skills for children, young people, and families at risk.
