This will not only help you identify birds, but you will learn about migration, nesting, environmental needs, species at risk and more. This is a collaborative study group, where participants will share as we grow knowledge together.  

The club is named for Dorothy Crysler, a remarkable local artist, journalist, author and birder! This club takes her cue, as she was "the messenger not the expert". This group is for anyone, new or established as a birder.

Creator Space Online: Intro to Documentary Editing in Blackmagic Resolve

Winter Stargazing

Winter is a great time for families to bundle up and get outside to stargaze. The nightskies look clearer in the winter and it gets dark early enough for even the youngest of children to witness the stars.

The Blue Mountains Public Library has put together a Winter Stargazing Kit, available for families to pick up.

Includes a Night Sky Dial, Astronomy worksheets, and tips for what to look for.

Limerick Poem and Visual Art Contest.

Friday April 1, 2022

Location: The Blue Mountains Public Library.

April is poetry month and The Blue Mountains Public Library is hosting a super fun Limerick and Visual Arts contest all month long! Submit your Limerick to us with a photo or a drawing that reflects your poem.

Contest Criteria:

  1. Poem must be a limerick. What's a limerick? A limerick is a humorous poem consisting of five lines. The first, second, and fifth lines must have seven to ten syllables while rhyming and having the same verbal rhythm. The third and fourth lines should only have five to seven syllables; they also must rhyme and have the same rhythm.
  2.  You must submit a photo or a drawing with your limerick.
  3. Email your poem and photo/drawing to libraryprograms@thebluemountains.ca
  4. Remember to let us know your name and age when you submit your poem.

That's it! Super easy.

There are five age categories:

Ages 4-6 years
Ages 7-10 years
Ages 11-14 years
Ages 15-18 years
Ages 18+

The winning pieces will be posted on our website and featured in a Biblioboard exhibit. Winners will also receive some great prizes.

The contest runs from Friday, April 1st - Saturday, April 30th.
