Following the March 11th COVID-19 pandemic announcement, closure of facilities and Ministerial closure of public libraries and museums across the province, the staff have developed an alternate service model to maintain service options for our community. All patrons should be looking to the Service Updates & COVID-19 site for up-to-date information. To provide additional activities and services during the shutdown, the BMPL staff are piloting new programs online, including regular FaceBook Live sessions. Check out our Things to do at Home page which has links and activities for homebound families as well as our Events Calendar which lists the many online activities available through BMPL. As always, our Virtual Branch has hundred’s of thousands of e-books, audio books, music, movies and other resources available.

At the March 19, 2020 Special Board Meeting, the POL-ADM.2020.01 Pandemic Response was approved. The Board also directed the CEO to work within the draft BMPL Board Pandemic Preparedness and Business Continuity Plan pending its approval; and for the Organizational Capacity, By-Laws & Governance Committee to bring back any recommended revisions.
Dr. Saunders and the BMPL staff have been working closely with the TBM CAO and Communications staff throughout this difficult period. The Deputy Mayor and CAO have conveyed their appreciation to the Board for the leadership and dedication exhibited by Dr. Saunders and her staff.
The FAQ webpage is regularly being updated on the remediation program. Radon Remediation occurred on February 26th and the three-month radon test has begun. The parking lot Wi-Fi is active for those who are looking for local connectivity.
