In the month of February, a colour theme art show launches, Barbara McCann showcases her collection of African textiles, and the Blue Mountain School of Landscape Painting announces their 2024 spring workshops!
Exhibit Opening: Celebrating the Colour Turquoise
Saturday, February 3 | 2-4pm | Drop In
Annually, the Arts & Culture Council for The Gallery hosts an open invitation, salon styled show based on a colour theme. Local artists are invited to submit artwork of that colour theme, and our Gallery is hung, floor to ceiling and everywhere in between, with art! This year, artwork will be centered around the vibrant colour of Turquoise.
The breathtaking display will open on February 3 with a reception from 2-4pm – all are welcome! Drop by to enjoy refreshments and wine and mingle with the dozens of artists who have contributed their work to the show.
ACC Presents: Sakakke - Power & Prestige of African Textiles
Tuesday, February 6 | 7pm | Free - Registration Required

We are so pleased to be hosting Barbara McCann for a fascinating presentation on African textiles. For over five decades, she has researched, travelled, and collected textiles from around the world. The talk will focus on the collecting of the African pieces, which she sourced from many remote villages and towns across North Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa. Barbara will also explore the production, economic, historical, and cultural importance of textiles.
This collection has been a lifelong passion and has been shown to a wide range of audiences in universities, public museums and art galleries throughout Canada and the USA, beginning with the first show at the UN Plaza in 1975.
Paint with the Blue Mountains School of Landscape Painting

2024 is the 42nd season of the Blue Mountain School of Landscape Painting’s (BMSLP) spring painting workshops! This is a rare opportunity where Blue Mountains property owners allow students to enjoy and paint beautiful, often historic sites.
The BMSLP is a not-for-profit organization established in 1980 with the goals “To encourage and foster awareness, interest and talent in the art of landscape painting in the Blue Mountain area”. What started as a way to bring in teachers for a group of keen local artists, turned into a well-respected art school that has provided thousands of students the opportunity to explore, learn, and paint amidst the beautiful landscape of South Georgian Bay.
Classes are offered in a variety of mediums and accommodate students of all levels. The 2024 line-up of excellent teachers includes John David Anderson, Jacintha Krish, Sam Paonessa, Alexandra Sharma, and Andrew Sookrah.
