Strategic Plan 2018-2022

The Library Board has produced a Legacy Document following more than a year of consultations with the community, staff, and experts.  The result is a SMART document (strategic, measurable, achievable, realistic, and time oriented). The Strategic Plan is produced in two versions:

To assist in achieving the Strategic Plan and its vision over the next four years, the Library Board will release annual action plans and the staff will develop an annual workplan.  Additionally, the board committee structure, as of October 2018, has been aligned to three of the goals, while the fourth falls under the CEO's roles.  The committee and CEO reports shall directly align to the Strategic Plan, action plan, and work plan for transparancy and accountability to the vision and Strategic Goals of the Board.

Year in Review

We are pleased to once again make available an annual report.  The Year in Review period of this report is 2018 and will be posted with audited revenue/expenses by the end of April.

Community Consultation

  • The Board held a Community Consultation on Thursday, June 14, 2018.  This event was a great success with over 135 participants who provided many comments and recommendations for how to improve, build capacity, expand, as well as what features should not be changed.  We thank everyone for participating and invite any additional comments via our User Survey #6 at the bottom of the page.

  • The final large community consultation is scheduled for Thursday, September 13th at 6:30 pm in the Gallery.  The draft Strategic Plan goals and objectives will be presented to the community.  The feedback gathered at this session will be taken back and used to create the final draft of the Strategic Plan 2018-2022.  The incoming Board will use this plan as a legacy document to inform decision making and capacity buildling.  They will then create an updated plan in their fourth year of the Board cycle as an outgoing project.

  • Many interviews and focus groups also occurred to further inform the Strategic Plan 2018-2022.  If you or your group are interested in participating, please contact the Library CEO.

  • Over the summer 2018, the CEO and staff are conducting surveys.  These will change after a few weeks on site, but will remain available on the website as well.

  • The raw data of comments received in the above noted sessions are available for review within the links.

  • A final comsultation in preparation for the finalization of the Strategic Plan occurred on September 13th when the draft goals and objectives were presented to the public for feedback.

Please consider providing feedback on this weeks short User Survey.  Your feedback will inform our practice!

Board Meetings

The Blue Mountains Public Library Board meets on the third Thursday of each month in the L.E. Shore Branch boardroom at 2:00pm, no less than ten months a year.  Typically the board does not meet in December and one of either July or August.  You may wish to visit our other pages found at the sidebar.

  • On the Board Agenda and Minutes you will find each of our Open Session Board packages, loaded 1 week prior to the meeting, as well as Minutes for these meetings following the next regular meeting.  You will also find how to add your voice to our meetings including making a deputation or providing public input on the agenda.  We encourage the community to review the agenda prior to attendance in the event that a time has been changed or the board is beginning with a Closed Session.
  • Library Policies and Plans has every public policy and plan for the Library including Board, staff, and patron specific documents.
  • Closed Sessions explains how and why the Board may choose to enter into Closed Session.  These are rare and may only be conducted according to the Public Libraries Act specifications.
  • We also have a current section called User Surveys.  As the Board prepares research to develope the four year Strategic Plan, community input is needed.  All community members (users and not) are encouraged to visit this site often.  Surveys are launched approximately every 2 weeks!
