Membership Information

Library Card The Library serves the population of The Town of The Blue Mountains and residents of this municipality support the Library through their municipal taxes. Residents of these municipalities have free access to all library materials.

Reciprocal Borrowing Privileges

The Library Boards of the Town of the Blue Mountains, Meaford and Grey Highlands have signed a reciprocal borrowing agreement allowing taxpayers from the three municipalities the right to have borrowing privileges at each library. In order to get a card, the taxpayer must show proof of residence as well as a current library card from their home library. All patrons must abide by the rules of the library from which they are borrowing materials and must return the material to that library.

New Borrowing Rules for Reciprocal Borrowers

Non-residents

Non-residents are welcome to visit the library and make use of the collection. There is a non-resident membership fee of $75 per household per year for full borrowing privileges.

Temporary cards are available to people who are renting in the catchment area for less than 8 weeks per year. Temporary members are required to leave a $20 deposit of which $10 is refundable when all borrowed materials and the library card is returned within 3 weeks of expiry date.

To obtain a Library Card you will need personal identification showing legal name and current address. The Library will accept as personal identification:

  • Driver's License
  • Ontario Health Card
  • Birth Certificate
  • Passport
  • Citizenship Certificate
  • Military ID

In the event that the above identification does not include a current address, the following will be accepted in addition to the personal identification:

  •   Current Hydro, Telephone, Cable, Water, Property Tax Bill, or Assessment Notice
  •   Vehicle Registration
  •   Government Cheque
  •   Rental Agreement
  •   Personalized Cheques

Lost or stolen cards should be reported immediately. Replacement charges are $2 for adult cards and $1 for children and seniors.

Please let us know promptly of any changes your personal information. If you have moved, we ask that you show identification that will verify your new address the next time you visit the library.
