Jian Ghomeshi hosts Canada Reads, a week-long radio special that celebrates books. panelists made the case for why their favourite Canadian fiction should be picked as the Canadian book to read in 2010 during the week of March 8th. See below for nominees and winner.
This year's panelists include:
Perdita Felicien, an Olympic athlete that has been breaking records for years and is poised to bring that competitive edge to Canada Reads. Perdita is defending Fall on Your Knees by Ann-Marie MacDonald.
Dr. Samantha Nutt is a founder and the executive director of War Child Canada. She has spent more than 15 years working in war zones with War Child Canada, the United Nations and several non-governmental organizations. Samantha Nutt is defending The Jade Peony by Wayson Choy.
Roland Pemberton, professionally known as Cadence Weapon, is an award-winning hip-hop artist, DJ and producer with two widely acclaimed albums to his credit. He's also the poet laureate for Edmonton, the city in which he was born and raised. Roland Pemberton is defending Generation X : Tales for an Accelerated Culture by Douglas Coupland.
Simi Sara, the Award-winning Vancouver TV and radio broadcaster has been a familiar face and voice to audiences in British Columbia's Lower Mainland for almost 20 years. Simi Sara is defending Good to a Fault by Marina Endicott.
